Milton Keynes, 20 March: ŠKODA will renew its association with the Goodwood Festival of Speed when champions past and present descend on the world-famous Goodwood Estate for the fastest and most exciting motoring show on earth.

Held from 26-29 June, the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed theme; “Addicted to winning – The Unbeatable Champions of Motor Sport”, will celebrate the legendary drivers, riders, teams and manufacturers who have triumphed in the most thrilling sport in the world.

Another great year of celebration

As long-standing supporters of the Festival, ŠKODA will once again have a significant presence at the 2014 event. Having wowed the crowds with its innovative and fully interactive pavilion designs over recent years, the brand’s 2014 display will offer even greater opportunities for show-goers to get involved. ŠKODA’s cycling activities are set to take centre stage – a move that pays tribute to the brand’s early days as a bicycle manufacturer.

ŠKODA’s current range of cars, including the new Yeti and new Rapid Spaceback will be on display, plus a number of attention-grabbing additions making their public debut in the UK. More details will be revealed closer to the event.

As in previous years, ŠKODA will be the main attraction at the Goodwood Forest Rally stage, situated at the top of the hillclimb course. The challenging forest stage will play host to ŠKODA’s multi-championship-winning Fabia S2000, along with a host of other rally legends.

Commenting on ŠKODA’s presence at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Heidi Cartledge, Head of Marketing for ŠKODA UK said: “We’re thrilled to be involved with the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2014. We share the passion shown by spectators and competitors, and always try to deliver new and exciting experiences for visitors. Taking ŠKODA back to its roots as a bicycle manufacturer, and honouring the Tour de France starting in the UK, seems the perfect way to celebrate our rich history. It’s going to be an amazing event.”

SKODA and Goodwood – a perfect match

With a rich history and a passion for motor sport that stretches back well over 100 years, ŠKODA’s association with Goodwood is a natural one. Over the course of the last four years, SKODA has been able to showcase its motorsport heritage.

In 2013, ŠKODA brought its most impressive selection of classic competition cars to the UK, with rarities such as the ŠKODA 1101 Sport that entered the 1950 Le Mans 24hr race, and the 130RS that won the 1981 European Touring Car championship.

Visitors to the ŠKODA -supported Forest Rally Stage were treated to a masterclass of sideways driving by rising stars Robert Barrable and Sepp Wiegand.

Further details on ŠKODA’s involvement with the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed will be revealed in the coming weeks.
