ROCKY RIDGE “CALLAWAY SPECIAL EDITION” SILVERADO UNVEILED AT AAA TEXAS 500 WEEKEND

e459c012-fd60-4279-b081-4a9ace7c4b51Rocky Ridge Trucks of Franklin Springs, Georgia, manufacturer of specialty lifted trucks, unveiled their latest model yesterday at Texas Motor Speedway. Race fans, truck enthusiasts and the automotive press got their first look at the new Rocky Ridge “Callaway Special Edition” Silverado. Current NASCAR Nationwide Series points leader, Chase Elliott, and his father, Sprint Cup champion, Bill Elliott, were joined by Callaway Cars’ founder, Reeves Callaway, to reveal the 540 horsepower supertruck.

After the unveiling, Chase, Bill and Reeves signed autographs. Chase reported, “That thing is a heck of a machine! Rocky Ridge and the Chevrolet 4 by 4 truck, I feel like that’s hard to beat with the Callaway supercharger system. I think it’s one of a kind.”

Bill Elliott echoed, “I think the Callaway supercharger on these trucks will be a super addition to them. Looks like a great package! Teaming up with Rocky Ridge and what they’re going to be able to produce will be win-win for both of them.”

Reeves Callaway summed up his company’s position: “We’re very excited to work with Rocky Ridge Trucks. This partnership gives us the opportunity to show our powertrain engineering expertise to lifted, four wheel drive truck enthusiasts, a market that we haven’t pursued. We think that, technically, this truck stands tall in any grouping of the four wheel drive ‘performance’ pickups.”

The Rocky Ridge “Callaway Special Edition” showcases the core competencies of the two companies. Rocky Ridge has been at the forefront of lifted performance pickups since 1985. Their trucks’ suspension systems are engineered and manufactured for increased ground clearance while maintaining proper geometry for superior handling. Rocky Ridge packages have proven to strike the right chord among enthusiasts over several generations of new trucks. At the same time, Callaway Cars has been on the cutting edge of positive manifold pressure applications for performance cars and trucks since producing their first turbocharger kits in the late 1970’s. Callaway powertrain engineering expertise has been forged under OEM contracts with Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Land Rover, Aston Martin, Holden, Malibu Boats, and Mazda. Callaway Twin Turbo Corvettes of the ’80’s and ’90’s and present-day supercharged Callaway Corvettes are icons of Chevrolet-based performance.

The supercharger system used in the Rocky Ridge “Callaway Special Edition” Silverado is Callaway’s completely new, third generation design, introduced earlier this year in the Callaway Corvette. The new supercharger housing and integrated intake manifold provides improved airflow and increased charge air cooling capability. Intake manifold runner cross-section and length were tuned for a broad torque band, particularly beneficial in truck applications. Eaton’s 2300cc TVS rotor pack was selected for its high adiabatic efficiency, OEM-certified quality, and service-proven reliability.

Callaway’s new triple-element intercooler configuration provides significantly lower inlet charge air temperatures than possible with single and dual element designs. Because of the system’s increased efficiency, these trucks can produce more consistent power, virtually unaffected by extended high load operation. To validate the intercooler system’s performance, Callaway dynamometer testing simulated sustained severe service, resulting in inlet air temperature increases of less than 10ºF during repeated test cycles, compared to increases of at least 35ºF with other intercooler designs.

Callaway’s new exhaust system utilizes a very low restriction muffler assembly with an abbreviated tail pipe, exiting at the side of the bed, in front of the rear tire. With full stainless steel construction, the new system includes Callaway’s signature Double-D tip. Rocky Ridge “Callaway Special Edition” Silverados are 50-state emissions-compliant.

Rocky Ridge content is covered by Rocky Ridge’s 3 year/36,000 mile Limited Warranty while Callaway Cars’ 3 year/36,000 mile Limited Warranty covers the Callaway content. GM does not block Callaway-supercharged trucks from warranty service, unlike other supercharged cars and trucks. The Callaway warranty not only covers the Callaway components, but also covers GM and Rocky Ridge parts that fail due to defective Callaway materials or workmanship.
