2015 CADILLAC ATS

Pricing starts at $38,990, including destination charge

DETROIT – For the 2015 ATS Coupe, Cadillac engineers and designers made a number of changes from the award-winning ATS Sedan to deliver the performance and styling traits luxury coupe buyers expect. When the ATS Coupe goes on sale at the end of this summer, it will start at $38,990, including a $995 destination charge.

To create a more personal expression of the brand’s compact luxury car, the 2015 ATS Coupe rides on the same 109.3-inch wheelbase as the sedan, but features its own bodywork, longer vehicle length, lower height and wider front/rear tracks.

The roof, doors, rear fenders and trunk lid are unique to the Coupe, along with a specific front fascia and front fenders to accommodate the wider track. 18-inch wheels are standard on the Coupe.

“All of the surface development unique to the ATS Coupe was done with aerodynamics in mind,” said David Masch, ATS chief engineer. “We are able to achieve lift and downforce requirements to insure, at top speed, we retain handling without having to add a rear spoiler.”

The Coupe has an aggressive stance, with wider front/rear tracks and a lower roofline than the sedan. At 60.3 inches front and 61.7 inches rear, the two-door has a 0.8-inch wider track. Overall vehicle height is 1.1 inches lower than the Sedan. The wider stance and lower roofline provide the proportions coupe customers want.

“The wider track also helps improve steering precision and direct response,” said Cadillac Executive Chief Engineer David Leone. “The lower roof contributes to a lower center of gravity height, which also reduces roll and improves steering response.”

The 2015 ATS Coupe is also 0.8 inches longer than the sedan; although it rides on an identical wheelbase. The extra overall length helps to further enhance the ATS Coupe’s dynamic appearance, resulting in a swept-back look to the front and rear end appearances.

The Cadillac ATS Coupe is intended to be a more personal addition to the award-winning ATS product line. Designed to be lighter, more agile and more engaging than its competitors, it extends Cadillac’s product-driven growth and the brand’s tradition of dynamic luxury Coupes. The 2015 ATS Coupe goes on sale this summer, offering drivers the choice of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the power from a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder or a 3.6L six-cylinder.

POWERMAT LAUNCHING IN 2015 CADILLAC ATS

Compatible smartphones can charge wirelessly in models with CUE system

DETROIT – Reducing clutter and adding function, Cadillac will add wireless charging of smartphones in the 2015 model ATS sport sedan and coupe launching this fall. Compatible with Powermat and other in-phone wireless charging technologies, the feature eliminates the need for cords on board.

“A recent survey from IHS revealed that 70 percent of consumers charge their mobile phone at least once per day, with 30 percent charging more than once,” said Ryan Sanderson, associate director, Power Supply & Storage Components at IHS Technology.

“This is driving demand for charging access in multiple locations throughout the day, something wireless charging can address in a more convenient way than the consumer having to carry one or more wired chargers around with them on a daily basis.”

Following its introduction into the 2015 ATS, wireless charging technology will be added to the CTS sport sedan this fall and to the Escalade SUV at the end of 2014.

”With 4G LTE capability and now wireless charging, Cadillac is embedding conveniences that have quickly become essential customer needs,” said Ken Kornas, ATS global product manager.

Powermat enables the phone to simply sit on a rubberized pad. The battery is recharged by means of an electromagnetic field. An increasing number of smartphones have wireless charging either embedded or as an option. The wireless charger GM and Powermat created accommodates the majority of these enabled devices.

“Our lifestyles have evolved in a more mobile way than ever before and with that comes an even greater need for access to power in those places where we spend the majority of our time,” said Powermat CEO Ran Poliakine. “Our integration into the Cadillac ATS is only the first step in the evolution of portable power in places that include your car, your coffee house and even your favorite sporting arena.”

The wireless charging feature will be located inside the storage bin behind the fully motorized center instrument panel faceplate of the ATS. This location creates a convenient option for drivers so they can keep their hands on the wheel. Using Bluetooth, a driver can pair his or her phone to the vehicle and enjoy many of the connectivity elements of the mobile device while it is both out of the way and charging.

Cadillac CUE is the centerpiece of the ATS Coupe’s in-vehicle technologies. For 2015, CUE includes new enhanced content such as a Text-to-Voice feature for smartphone users with Bluetooth profile (M.A.P.), which reads incoming texts through the car’s speakers. Using the feature requires a compatible smartphone with Bluetooth profile and applicable text messaging feature.

CADILLAC ATS COUPE ELEVATES IN-VEHICLE CONNECTIVITY

OnStar 4G LTE and CUE Collection further enhance Cadillac vehicles.

DETROIT – Cadillac will add enhanced in-vehicle connectivity with the addition of OnStar 4G LTE and the CUE Collection suite of applications. The 2015 ATS Coupe will be among the first Cadillac models equipped with both advanced technologies when it goes on sale this summer.

OnStar 4G LTE is a faster and more reliable connection for in-vehicle applications compared to competitive 3G systems. A built-in connection allows passengers access online content and information through a Wi-Fi hotspot, which can accommodate up to seven devices.

The new, faster vehicle connection also powers CUE Collection, a new in-car app marketplace that will be standard on many 2015 Cadillac vehicles with CUE infotainment. Accessible via an icon on the eight-inch LCD touch screen, the CUE system can organize, update or delete user-downloaded apps throughout the life of the vehicle. Expected initial apps include iHeartRadio, The Weather Channel, NPR and Slacker Radio.

Cadillac CUE is the centerpiece of the ATS Coupe’s in-vehicle technologies and is available on base models and standard on Luxury, Performance and Premium ATS Coupes. For 2015, CUE includes new enhanced content such as a Text-to-Voice feature for smartphone users with Bluetooth profile (M.A.P.), which reads incoming texts through the car’s speakers. Users can also create and save their own preset responses when the vehicle is in Park. The feature requires a compatible smartphone with Bluetooth profile and applicable text messaging features.

Also new for 2015 is the addition of Siri Eyes Free for iPhone iOS 6 and iOS 7 users. The system allows users to simply connect their iPhone to CUE via Bluetooth, pair with the system and use the steering wheel voice activation button to begin and end sessions with Siri. Each enables voice-controlled connectivity, to help keep phones in pockets and hands on the wheel.

Every Cadillac also comes standard with 12 months of OnStar Directions and Connections, which includes advisor-based safety, security and navigational services. Cadillac owners also get OnStar RemoteLink Key Fob Services, which allows owners to lock or unlock doors, activate the horn and lights, and remotely start a properly equipped vehicle through the OnStar RemoteLink smartphone app. The Key Fob Services are included for five years for Cadillac vehicles in the U.S. and Canada.

The elevated level of connectivity brought by OnStar 4G LTE and the CUE Collection will roll out to the entire Cadillac model lineup throughout the second half of the 2014 calendar year on 2015 models.

OnStar 4G LTE data packages and pricing will be announced later this year.
