CELEBRATE 50 YEARS OF THE MUSTANG WITH SILVERSTONE AUCTIONS

efc7b7d7-11d2-4aec-b5f8-4b0d5b415c62A super original 1964 Ford Mustang 1/2 Coupe, produced as part of the earliest production run of the iconic car, is ready to go under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions’ May Sale on May 24th.

Regarded as the purest of all Mustangs, the very rare car, estimated between £14,000 to £18,000, was built at Ford’s Dearborn Michigan plant on 26th June 1964. A matching numbers example, it still houses its original 260CI V8 Engine and Cruise-O-Matic transmission.

Sold to Mr. Alan G. Winslow of Virginia in October 1964, he was obviously a discerning gentlemen having ordered the car with a unique array of factory fitted options including power steering, power brakes, rally-pac and AM radio with rear speaker with a very rare Studio Sonic Sound System. It is presented in a wonderful colour combination of Rangoon Red with Red Beauty interior with fully documented history.

The current vendor, whilst visiting Virginia for a wedding in 2005, purchased the car and brought it to the UK, remaining the only owner since.

Commenting on the car, Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “The Ford Mustang constantly figures in the world’s top ten favourite classics and with the price guide set here, this is a great value entry into that exclusive club.”

The sale of the car comes amid the 50th anniversary of the original and greatest ‘pony car’ as well as the launch of a new model this year.

Nick added: “This year’s Silverstone Classic will be celebrating the anniversary of the model and taking ownership of this car could be a wonderful opportunity to get involved.”
