LAND ROVER AT THE 2014 TORONTO AUTO SHOW

cd6e0cb4-75ba-4e59-9f0c-860c4da36f93(MISSISSAUGA, ON) – February 13, 2014 – Land Rover will showcase its 2014 model year lineup at the 2014 Toronto Auto Show held February 14 to 23, 2014. The Range Rover Long-Wheelbase and the Range Rover Long-Wheelbase Autobiography edition will both be on display.

The 2014 model year continues the most dynamic product development and introduction period in the brand’s history. An all-new Range Rover Sport is introduced, based on the all-new aluminum-intensive Range Rover that debuted for 2013.

Long-wheelbase variants will initially be available on Supercharged and Autobiography trim levels with either a three-across bench seat or individual rear seats with a center console. The individual rear seats can recline to 17 degrees, a full eight degrees more than in the standard-wheelbase. All long-wheelbase vehicles will be equipped with standard powered door blinds and a panoramic sunroof, and carry a distinctive ‘L’ badge insignia displayed on the lower front door trims.

Land Rover has re-powered its luxurious all-purpose, all-terrain LR4 model for 2014 and also revised front-end styling. A new 340hp 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission replace the previous 5.0-litre V8 and six-speed automatic, yielding comparable performance with better fuel economy. An Intelligent Stop-Start system also helps reduce fuel consumption in certain driving situations.

Land Rover has refined the all-terrain capability for the 2014 LR4, making a new, lighter single-speed Torsen® transfer case 4WD system standard and offering a two-speed transfer case 4WD system as part of an optional Heavy Duty Package. Expected to be selected by customers who take the LR4 into difficult off-road situations, the Heavy Duty Package also equips the vehicle with an active locking rear differential and a full-size spare tire.

Available with three-row seating for seven adults, the Land Rover LR4 is distinguished for 2014 by a refreshed front end with a two-bar grille and redesigned bumper, headlamps and fog lights. On the HSE LUX trim, the grille and side vents are Atlas (bright), while they’re Brunel (dark) for the LR4 and LR4 HSE. A striking new LED signature headlight design with Xenon high-intensity discharge (HID) technology is standard on HSE LUX model.

Inside the 2014 LR4, two great British brands come together, with new audio systems by Meridian™ replacing the previous systems by Harman Kardon®.

The Range Rover was all-new for 2013, debuting an aluminum unibody construction that reduced vehicle weight by 700lbs. for significantly improved strength, performance, agility and fuel efficiency. As the fourth generation of the Range Rover line, this model was developed from the ground up, to capture the innovative spirit and iconic design of the original model.

For its second model year, the Range Rover makes another leap in fuel efficiency with a new 340hp 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine replacing the previous 5.0-litre V8. As with the V8, the supercharged V6 is teamed to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The new powertrain yields comparable performance to the 2013 V8 model but with markedly better fuel economy, now 12.6 city/8.6 highway (10.8 combined) L/100 km.

Legroom in the new Range Rover rear seat extends to nearly 1016 mm, a 119-mm increase over the older model. An Individualized Rear Seating package provides the ultimate in rear seat luxury.
