McLAREN 720S MSO DEFINED CARBON FIBRE ACTIVE REAR SPOILER NOW AVAILABLE IN NORTH AMERICA
McLaren Automotive, the creator of luxury high performance sportscars and supercars, is pleased to announce the 720S MSO Defined Carbon Fibre Active Rear Spoiler is now available for both the 720S Coupe and Spider in North America. Previously available as a factory option for new vehicles, the 720S MSO Defined Carbon Fibre Active Rear Spoiler now allows customers without this option configured at production to upgrade their vehicle and match other existing visual carbon fibre exterior elements.
The spoiler on the McLaren 720S plays a large role in the super car’s overall balance and handling. The full-width spoiler with airbrake functionality has an optimized motion to improve the downforce efficiency and is automatically activated to either decrease drag or increase downforce, or act as an airbrake to enhance vehicle balance under heavy braking. Aerodynamic efficiency, the ratio between downforce and drag, is more than double that of the McLaren 650S, and the overall result is a car that is superbly balanced and gives the driver confidence to push harder through the fastest corners found on a racetrack.
The wing, which is hydraulically operated, also has airbrake functionality, giving it three main operational positions:
- Driver downforce (from 70% to 80% wing deployment, depending on speed), is engaged when the Aero button is pushed and delivers the necessary downforce and balance to guarantee optimal performance during cornering
- DRS (30% wing deployment) delivers drag reduction when accelerating in a straight line and up to maximum speed
- High Speed Braking (100% airbrake deployment in less than 0.5sec), the wing, fully deployed, shifts the aero-balance by 20% to improve high speed braking stability and overall braking distances
Now available in visual carbon fibre – the rear spoiler can match other exterior visual carbon fibre options, such as the available Exterior Carbon Fibre Pack 1, which includes the hood air intakes, rear fender air intakes and door mirror casings, Exterior Carbon Fibre Pack 2, which includes the front splitter and rear bumper lower, and Exterior Carbon Fibre Pack 3, which includes the front air intakes and roof.

Featuring a two year warranty, the 720S MSO Defined Carbon Fibre Active Rear Spoiler is available now for $9,717.07 (USD) through McLaren retailers, and is avaialble for both the 720S coupe, as well as the new 720S Spider, a no compromise convertible that combines the thrill of open-air driving with unparalleled Super Series dynamic performance and sophistication.

McLaren Automotive, the creator of luxury high performance sportscars and supercars, reveals today its first bespoke luggage collection, designed exclusively for the McLaren GT by McLaren Special Operations. Developed together by McLaren Automotive’s design and engineering teams and a luggage specialist, the four-piece set maximizes the McLaren GT’s capacious luggage space and includes made-to-measure storage solutions for golf clubs.
With the McLaren GT’s deep front storage area and long rear luggage deck under the lift-up glass tailgate, the supercar of grand tourers is not only McLaren’s most spacious and practical car, but also ranks amongst the most flexible and accommodating mid-engined two-seaters ever made. The McLaren GT Luggage Set has been designed and developed to conform to the brand highest’s standards of engineering, quality and exclusivity, and consists of four pieces: the garment case, the weekend bag, the cabin bag and the full-size golf bag.
Each bag in the collection is hand-assembled by specialists in Italy, using the same soft and supple semi-aniline leather and stitch pattern that adorns the interior of the McLaren GT. Three colors are available: Pioneer Black, Luxe Black and Luxe Porcelain. Stitching and piping colorways have been selected to match the GT’s two specification levels—Pioneer and Luxe—and perfectly complement all the McLaren GT’s exterior color options, including the launch colors of Namaka Blue, Burnished Copper and Veridian Green.
With each piece of luggage designed to fit a specific location in the car, two people are assured of ample secure storage for a range of lifestyle and sporting activities, as well as for luxurious long-distance travel. The GT’s exceptional comfort, refinement and light cabin ambience seamlessly blends with authentic McLaren supercar performance and agility.
The luggage set was shown during Monterey Car Week, alongside a special McLaren GT by MSO that debuted on the Concept Car Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 18th. Designed to showcase the personalization options available through MSO for the McLaren GT, this example features an MSO Defined Flux Silver exterior paint color, with MSO Bespoke Satin Graphite exterior paint applied to the door skits, front splitter, wing mirrors, rear bumper and rear diffuser. The interior features striking MSO Bespoke Goeform Stitching throughout, elevating the cabin to further levels of luxury and sophistication.
The McLaren GT is priced from $210,000 (US) with first deliveries expected by the end of 2019. The Luggage Set is available to order beginning in September through McLaren retailers.
