DEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 13, 2019 – Ford Motor Company is issuing two safety recalls and a safety compliance recall in North America. Details are as follows:

Safety recall for select 2011-13 Ford F-150 vehicles with 6-speed automatic transmission shift issues
Ford is issuing a safety recall on select 2011-13 Ford F-150 vehicles with 6-speed automatic transmission that may experience an intermittent loss of the transmission output speed sensor signal to the powertrain control module, potentially resulting in a temporary, unintended downshift into first gear. Depending on vehicle speed, a downshift to first gear without warning could result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is aware of five reports of accidents, including one report of “whiplash” potentially related to this condition.

This action affects approximately 1.48 million vehicles in North America, including approximately 1.26 million in the United States and federalized territories and approximately 221,000 in Canada.

Affected 2011-13 F-150 vehicles were built at Dearborn Assembly Plant, April 28, 2010 to Oct. 28, 2013, and Kansas City Assembly Plant, May 18, 2010 to Nov. 18, 2013.

Dealers will update the powertrain control module software in the affected vehicles. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19S07.

Safety recall for select 2017-19 Lincoln Continental vehicles for door latches that may not engage
Ford is issuing a safety recall for select 2017-19 Lincoln Continental vehicles for a door latch concern. Certain vehicles may have an intermittently functioning door latch motor due to the buildup of silicon contamination; as a result, the door latch may not fully engage. This condition could increase the potential for the door to open while driving, increasing the risk of injury.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries resulting from this condition.

This action affects approximately 27,000 vehicles in the United States and federalized territories and approximately 1,200 in Canada.

Affected 2017-19 Lincoln Continental vehicles were built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Nov. 30, 2015 to Nov. 14, 2018.

Dealers will remove and replace the door latch assemblies in all four doors of the affected vehicles. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19S03.

Safety compliance recall on select 2019 Ford Mustang, Lincoln Nautilus and Lincoln Navigator vehicles for blank instrument panel cluster assemblies
Ford is issuing a safety compliance recall for select 2019 Ford Mustang, Lincoln Nautilus and Lincoln Navigator vehicles for instrument panel cluster assemblies that may be blank upon vehicle startup.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries resulting from this condition.

This action affects approximately 4,200 vehicles in the United States and federalized territories and approximately 150 in Canada.

Affected vehicles include:

  • 2019 Ford Mustang vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Nov. 5, 2018 to Jan. 15, 2019
  • 2019 Lincoln Nautilus vehicles built at Oakville Assembly Plant, Nov. 6, 2018 to Dec. 21, 2018
  • 2019 Lincoln Navigator vehicles built at Kentucky Truck Plant, Nov. 4, 2018 to Dec. 15, 2018

Dealers will update the instrument panel cluster software. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19C03.

FORD MOTOR COMPANY ISSUES SAFETY RECALL FOR SELECT 2019 LINCOLN NAUTILUS VEHICLES FOR HANDS ON/OFF DETECTION WARNINGS THAT MAY NOT FUNCTION

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 16, 2019 – Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety recall for certain 2019 Lincoln Nautilus vehicles equipped with lane-centering assist and adaptive front steering because these vehicles may not adequately detect if a driver has his or her hands off the steering wheel. If this occurs, the hands on/off detection system may not alert the driver to place his or her hands back on the steering wheel, which could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from this condition.

This action affects approximately 2,700 Lincoln Nautilus vehicles in North America, including 2,276 in the United States and federalized territories and 371 in Canada.

Affected 2019 Lincoln Nautilus vehicles were built at Oakville Assembly Plant, Sept. 5, 2018 to Nov. 19, 2018.

Dealers will update the power steering control module software in affected vehicles. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19S02.

2019 EcoSport vehicles

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 4, 2019 – Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety compliance recall and is expanding a safety recall for certain Takata airbag inflators in North America. Details are as follows:

Safety compliance recall on select 2019 EcoSport vehicles for insufficient front seat back weld
Ford is issuing a safety compliance recall on certain 2019 Ford EcoSport vehicles with an insufficient weld between the side member and A-bracket on the front seat back. A seat back with an inadequate weld may have reduced strength that may not meet the seat back strength requirements of FMVSS 207/210, potentially increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from this condition.

This action affects approximately 87 EcoSport vehicles in North America including 63 in the United States and federalized territories and 13 in Canada. The Ford reference number for this recall is 18C08.

Dealers will replace front seats on affected vehicles with new seats.

Safety recall expansion for vehicles containing certain Takata airbag inflators
As part of the fourth planned expansion of vehicles included in Takata inflator recalls described in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Takata coordinated remedy order, Ford is expanding its safety recall on vehicles with certain passenger frontal airbag inflators after Takata declared those inflators defective. This action represents a planned expansion of previously recalled vehicles to additional model years within the geographic zones defined earlier by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19S01.

A total of approximately 953,000 vehicles have been added to this expansion, including 782,384 in the United States and federalized territories and 149,652 in Canada.

Affected vehicles include:

  • 2010 Ford Edge and 2010 Lincoln MKX vehicles built at Oakville Assembly Plant, Nov. 28, 2008 to July 12, 2010
  • 2010-11 Ford Ranger vehicles built at Twin Cities, Aug. 14, 2008 to June 21, 2014
  • 2010-12 Ford Fusion, 2010-12 Lincoln MKZ and 2010-11 Mercury Milan vehicles built at Hermosillo Assembly Plant, July 3, 2008 to July 29, 2012
  • 2010-14 Ford Mustang vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, June 8, 2009 to Dec. 16, 2011

Ford is not aware of any injuries associated with the passenger side frontal inflators included in this safety recall.

Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag inflator or module at no cost to the customer.
