EVANTA ASTON MARTIN DBR1 IS ON ITS WAY TO AUCTION

  • Rare recreation of 1950’s Aston Martin racing legend the DBR1 for auction
  • Built by ‘Wheeler Dealers’ presenter Ant Anstead’s Evanta Motor Company
  • To be auctioned at Silverstone Circuit on 19th May estimated at £85,000 – £100,000

Silverstone Auctions is excited to announce that a very special Evanta Aston Martin DBR1 is coming to its May Sale on 19thMay at Silverstone racing circuit.

Built as a near exact replica of the original Aston Martin DBR1, famed for its success during the late 1950’s in the hands of legends including Sir Stirling Moss and Carroll Shelby, the stunning recreation was crafted from scratch by the Evanta Motor Company, owned at the time by car designer and ‘Wheeler Dealers’ presenter, Ant Anstead.

The car comes to auction from the private collection of a high profile celebrity petrolhead with an auction estimate of £85,000 to £100,000.

Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions said; “The Aston Martin DBR1 is an icon in British motor racing history, and this is one of the best replicas we’ve seen. This Evanta is a very special motorcar with unique provenance and offers exclusive and seriously cool summer motoring.”

The creation of the car was based on over 150 photographs of an original Aston Martin DBR1 with special attention to recreating the absolute correct Aston Martin Racing Green body and correct colour for the frame.

Inside the cockpit the car is almost indistinguishable from the original cars, even down to the hand painted crackle finish dashboard, which took dozens of attempts until a satisfactory finish was achieved. The seats were also made in the same materials as the original cars, whilst the period correct dials and steering wheel were fitted to retain authenticity.

Under the bonnet the Evanta DBR1 is currently fitted with a high compression 4.2 litre engine with de-Dion rear suspension and coil over front wishbones at the front, with 16” wire wheels fitted with special period reproduction Michelin tyres.

Silverstone Auctions was honoured to sell the car in 2014 to a known enthusiast and collector. The car returned to auction again in February 2016 and sold to its current owner, a high profile celebrity petrolhead, who has made a number of further mechanical enhancements to the car.

“The true value of a genuine DBR1 is believed to be in the region of £20m, making this Evanta DBR1 the closest many collectors can get to owning the legendary racing car. It’s an opportunity not to be missed!” concludes Nick.

TWO EXCLUSIVE MODERN MERCEDES CLASSICS GOING TO AUCTION

  • One of 25 UK RHD Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black estimated at £110,000 to £125,000
  • One of 40 RHD Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM estimated at £180,000 to £220,000
  • Both with low mileage to be auctioned on 19th May at Silverstone Circuit

Silverstone Auctions is proud to announce that two of the most coveted modern Mercedes will be available at its upcoming May Sale. A rare 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black and a limited edition 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM will go under the hammer at the legendary Silverstone Circuit on 19th May.

Harry Whale, classic car specialist, Silverstone Auctions said, “Both these prized modern day classics are stripped out racers at heart. Lighter and more powerful than their showroom cousins, these cars were built for the track, so it’s fitting that we’ll be offering them at our May Sale held at Silverstone.”

One of only 25 right hand drive examples, the CLK63 AMG Black is considered the best and most revered Mercedes-Benz supercar of its era. This particular example was one of the last cars to come off the production line in 2008 wearing a particularly eye catching shade of Iridium Metallic Silver. Supplied new to Mercedes-Benz Beaconsfield, it was registered by its first and only owner on the 6th June 2008.

Beneath the bonnet is a powerful 6.2 litre V8 capable of producing 507bhp, making it a hugely quick, well balanced and enormously capable coupé with a number of carbon fibre additions over the standard CLK, including a rear spoiler and air vents in the front wings.

Coming to auction from a private collection of special cars, it has only covered 4,000 miles since new and has been meticulously stored and serviced. It will be offered by the auction house with a sale estimate of £110,000 to £125,000 complete with an impeccable service history.

The second of the two Mercedes is a 2005 CLK DTM which is one of just 40 right-hand drive example of a total of 100 coupes built to celebrate the CLK winning prestigious Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. This limited edition model was initially available from Mercedes by invitation only to very high profile customers.

Mercedes added many race derived upgrades to the body including flared wheel arches, larger intakes and a boot mounted rear wing, housing a supercharged 5.4 litre V8 engine producing an incredible 582bhp.

Presented in Obsidian Black, this highly sought after limited edition has covered just 7,580 miles in its 13 years in the hands of just two owners. It will be offered at auction with an estimate of £180,000 to £220,000 and is supplied with a fully documented Mercedes service history, fresh MoT and the number plate of DT55 AMG.

“Not only are these two of the most desirable high performance modern classics on the market, but both are presented in exceptional condition with low mileage and low ownership. We expect there to be significant interest from around the world on auction day,” concludes Harry.

Both the Mercedes CLK63 AMG Black and the Mercedes CLK DTM will be offered for sale on the 19th May courtesy of Silverstone Auctions at the Silverstone motor racing circuit. EXCEPTIONAL FERRARI 365 GTB/4 DAYTONA TO HEADLINE FERRARI MARQUE

  • Rare, low mileage 1972 Ferrari Daytona in excellent condition for auction
  • One of only 158 UK-supplied cars and one of just 15 finished in Argento Auteuil
  • To be auction on 18th May at Silverstone circuit estimated at £500,000 – £575,000

A low-mileage and highly collectible 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona is being offered for sale by Silverstone Auctions at its inaugural ‘A Sale of Ferraris in association with Ferrari Owners’ Club GB’ at Silverstone circuit on 18th May.

One of only 158 UK-supplied cars, and one of just 15 finished in Argento Auteuil, the exquisite Daytona will headline the auction house’s first ever Ferrari marque dedicated sale since partnering with the prestigious car club.

Adam Rutter, classic car specialist at Silverstone Auctions, said: “Without doubt, this is one of the most exceptional Ferraris we’ve had the pleasure to offer for sale. It’s in incredible condition thanks to the very careful ownership of its previous guardians, and I’m sure it will be of serious interest to car collectors worldwide.”

This year the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona celebrates 50 years since its launch at the 1968 Paris Motor Show, where it was announced as the most expensive and fastest road-going Ferrari ever built.

Supplied by Maranello to H.W. Motors of Walton-Upon-Thames on 10th May 1972, chassis #15835 was delivered new to classic car enthusiast and historic racer Mr Jeremy Agace, with air conditioning as an optional extra. Its original number plate, ‘MPB 125K’, is still worn by the car to this day.

The unmistakeable bodywork designed by Pininfarina and built by the equally well-respected Scaglietti features a long bonnet, cut-off tail, steeply angled nose and flared wheel arches.

It is just as impressive underneath the bonnet with a 4.4-litre, 4-cam V12 engine producing an astonishing 352bhp and a top speed of 174mph.

In 2012 the car benefited from a fastidious full engine rebuild under the watchful eye of Iain Tyrell and his team at Cheshire Classic Cars, as well as a restoration of the original Blue Connelly hide interior, door trims and dashboard using period correct materials, courtesy of an ex-Connolly craftsman.

Today this very special Ferrari presents in excellent condition reading just 35,900 miles and will be offered for auction with an estimate of £500,000 to £575,000.

“Chassis #15835 has passed through the hands of some significant collectors during its time. Anyone looking to own a Daytona should certainly consider this example, and what better time to buy than in the 50th anniversary year of the model?” concludes Adam.

The car is accompanied by a fascinating history file containing over 20 old MoT certificates, copies of the original factory order form and invoices from respected marque specialists including Colin Clarke, QV London, SMDG and Cheshire Classic Cars. It will join a catalogue of just 30 specially selected Ferraris to be offered at the sale, alongside a Ferrari memorabilia auction.
