BMW GROUP U.S. REPORTS OCTOBER 2016 SALES

  • BMW brand sales decrease 18.4 percent
  • MINI brand sales decrease 3.3 percent

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – November 1, 2016… Sales of BMW brand vehicles decreased 18.4 percent in October for a total of 24,017 compared to 29,439 vehicles sold in October, 2015. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is down 9.0 percent in the U.S. on sales of 254,150 vehicles compared to 279,395 sold in the first ten months of 2015.

Notable vehicle sales in October include the BMW 7 Series which increased to 1,133 cars, the BMW X1 which increased to 2,710 vehicles, and the BMW X3 which increased to 3,680 vehicles.

“The volatility of the U.S. market is more clearly evident as the pace of sales continues slowing from the peak of 2015,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “At the same time, BMW Sports Activity Vehicles – X1 to X6 – have set a new record, more than 100,000 sold year to date, accounting for 47% of our October sales, with room for more growth as demand for these popular models continues to increase.”

BMW Group Sales

In total, the BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported October sales of 27,971 vehicles, a decrease of 16.6 percent from the 33,526 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, BMW Group sales are down 9.6 percent on sales of 297,015 vehicles in the first ten months of 2016 compared to 328,456 in the same period in 2015.

MINI Brand Sales

For October, MINI USA reported 3,954 automobiles sold, a decrease of 3.3 percent from the 4,087 sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI USA reported a total of 42,865 automobiles sold, a decrease of 12.6 percent from 49,061 automobiles sold in the first ten months of 2015.

 BMW Pre-Owned Vehicles

  • October 2016 sales of BMW Certified Pre-Owned set an October record with 11,310 vehicles, an increase of 18.2 percent from October 2015.
  • Total BMW Pre-Owned sales also set an October record with 21,811 vehicles, an increase of 39.7 percent from October
  • Total BMW Pre-Owned cars sold year-to-date were 190,546, a 23.8 percent increase from the first ten months of 2015.

 

MINI Pre-Owned Vehicles

  • In October, sales of MINI Certified Pre-Owned set an October record with 1,016 vehicles, an increase of 1.7 percent from October 2015.
  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sales also set an October record with 2,457 vehicles in October 2016, an increase of 9.3 percent from October 2015.
  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sales year-to-date were 23,760, a 5.2 percent increase from the first ten months of 2015.

 

 



 

BMW GROUP POSTS NEW SEPTEMBER GLOBAL SALES RECORD

Munich. The BMW Group achieved a worldwide double-digit sales increase in September, continuing the company’s long-term upward sales trend and securing a new record for the month. A total of 237,973 vehicles were delivered to customers around the world, an increase of 10.5% on the same month last year. This result brings the year-to-date sales total to 1,746,638 – up 6.2% compared with the same period last year and the company’s best ever sales result for the first three quarters of the year.

“Once again, the BMW Group has delivered strong sales growth across the company’s line-up,” commented Dr Ian Robertson, Member of the BMW AG Board of Management with responsibility for Sales and Marketing BMW. “Demand for our premium models continues to grow around the world and in all vehicle classes. Customer interest in our broad range of electrified models is also stronger than ever, with a clear upward trend. Our policy of balanced global sales continues to deliver sustainable success and profitability remains our primary focus,” Robertson added.

In September, a total of 197,419 BMW brand vehicles were delivered to customers, an increase of 9.4% on the same month last year. Sales growth continues to be driven by the BMW X range: the BMW X1 was delivered to a total of 21,412 (+161.9%) customers in September; BMW X3 sales increased 12.9% (15,596); BMW X4 deliveries rose 15.9% (5,732) and BMW X5 sales climbed 17.6% with a total of 15,979 delivered to customers. Meanwhile, with well over 6,000 models sold around the world in September, sales of the BMW 7 Series more than tripled compared with the same month last year (6,210 / +237.5%). Overall year-to-date sales for the BMW brand stand at 1,479,936 – up 6.0% compared with the first three-quarters of last year.

Sales of BMW’s electrified models continue to grow, especially in Europe and the USA. More than 40,000 BMW i and BMW iPerformance vehicles have been sold so far this year, with the trend clearly increasing. Over 7,000 electrified BMW models were delivered to customers worldwide in September.

Sales of MINI brand vehicles increased by 16.1% in September with a total of 40,164 delivered to customers worldwide. “This is the first time more than 40,000 MINIs have been sold in a single month, which underlines the increasing customer demand for the brand,” said Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for MINI, BMW Motorrad and Rolls-Royce. “Our biggest growth drivers are the newest members of the MINI family, the MINI Convertible and the MINI Clubman, demonstrating the success of our brand realignment,” he added. In the first three quarters of the year, MINI sales rose by 7.2% (264,077).

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars announced the best ever third quarter sales performance in the history of the company, up 12.7% on the previous year. Demand was seen across all Rolls-Royce models, combined with significant interest in Dawn and Black Badge Wraith and Black Badge Ghost. Sales in the nine-month period from January to September totalled 2,625 units, up 0.8% on the previous year. This result is according to plan and the marque remains optimistic for a strong year in 2016.

Combined monthly sales of BMW and MINI in Europe totalled 121,583 in September, up 12.1% compared with the same month last year. The region’s two largest markets both achieved significant sales increases: registrations of new BMW and MINI vehicles increased by 13.2% in Germany (28,891) and by 12.0% in the UK (45,714); this strong growth trend was also reflected in most markets in the region. Year-to-date sales in Europe are up 10.4% with a total of 806,917 vehicles delivered.

Sales of BMW and MINI vehicles in Asia also achieved considerable sales growth in September with a total of 71,237 (+16.5%) vehicles delivered to customers. In Mainland China, a total of 49,204 BMW and MINI vehicles were delivered to customers (+19.6%); double-digit growth was also achieved in Japan, where sales totalled 8,531 (+12.7%). In the first three quarters of the year, a total of 548,014 BMW and MINI vehicles were sold in Asia, an increase of 9.2% compared with the same period last year.

Sales of BMW and MINI in the Americas decreased 2.7% in September compared with the same month last year, with a total of 38,258 vehicles delivered to customers in the region. Monthly sales in the USA totalled 29,413, a decrease of 5.2% compared with the same month last year. Meanwhile the strong upward sales increase in Mexico continued, with a total of 3,223 BMW and MINI vehicles delivered to customers, an increase of 18.1%. Year-to-date sales of BMW and MINI vehicles in the Americas total 337,079, down 6.5% compared with the same period last year.

BMW Motorrad continued to grow sales through September with a total of 12,215 units sold in the month, an increase of 10.2% compared with the same month last year. Year-to-date sales are up 3.2% with a total of 116,044 motorcycles and maxi-scooters delivered to customers in the first nine months of the year.

BMW GROUP U.S. REPORTS SEPTEMBER 2016 SALES

  • BMW brand sales decrease 4.6 percent
  • MINI brand sales decrease 8.8 percent

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – October 3, 2016… Sales of BMW brand vehicles decreased 4.6 percent in September for a total of 25,389 compared to 26,608 vehicles sold in September, 2015. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is down 7.9 percent in the U.S. on sales of 230,133 vehicles compared to 249,956 sold in the first nine months of 2015.

Notable vehicle sales in September include the BMW 7 Series which increased to 1,201 cars, the BMW X1 which increased to 2,463 vehicles, and the BMW X3 which increased to 3,829 vehicles.

“Once again, our Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) are leading the way, accounting for 44% of BMW September sales, the second month in a row for such a percentage,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America.  “At the same time, I am also pleased to see demand for our flagship 7 Series continuing to increase with solid numbers over a year ago.”

BMW Group Sales

In total, the BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported September sales of 29,413 vehicles, a decrease of 5.2 percent from the 31,022 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, BMW Group sales are down 8.8 percent on sales of 269,044 vehicles in the first nine months of 2016 compared to 294,930 in the same period in 2015.

MINI Brand Sales

For September, MINI USA reported 4,024 automobiles sold, a decrease of 8.8 percent from the 4,414 sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI USA reported a total of 38,911 automobiles sold, a decrease of 13.5 percent from 44,974 automobiles sold in the first nine months of 2015.

 BMW Pre-Owned Vehicles

  • September 2016 sales of BMW Certified Pre-Owned set a record with 11,178 vehicles, an increase of 28.5 percent from September 2015.
  • Total BMW Pre-Owned sales also set a record with 22,809 vehicles, an increase of 61.6 percent from September 2015.
  • Total BMW Pre-Owned cars sold year-to-date were 168,735, a 22 percent increase from the first nine months of 2015.

 

MINI Pre-Owned Vehicles

  • In September, sales of MINI Certified Pre-Owned set a record with 925 vehicles, an increase of 2.3 percent from September 2015.
  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sales also set a record with 2,234 vehicles in September 2016, an increase of 4.4 percent from September 2015.
  • Total MINI Pre-Owned sales year-to-date were 21,303, a 4.7 percent increase from the first nine months of 2015.

 

 



 

BMW GROUP ACHIEVES BEST-EVER AUGUST GLOBAL SALES

Munich. BMW Group sales continued their long-standing upward trend in August with a total of 165,431 vehicles delivered to customers around the world, an increase of 5.7% on the same month last year. This result brings the year-to-date sales total to 1,508,659 – up 5.5% compared with the same period last year and the first time ever the company has sold over one and a half million vehicles in the first eight months of a year.

“The BMW Group’s ongoing sales success across all our premium brands underlines the strength of our product line-up,” said Dr Ian Robertson, Member of the BMW AG Board of Management with responsibility for Sales and Marketing BMW. “Sales are increasing across the range and our electrified models are proving extremely popular – we’ve already sold more alternative drive vehicles this year than in the whole of 2015,” he continued.

In August, a total of 142,554 BMW brand vehicles were delivered to customers, an increase of 5.0% on the same month last year. Year-to-date sales for the brand stand at 1,282,511 – up 5.5% compared with the first eight months of last year. The BMW X range continues to drive sales: with 16,612 units delivered worldwide in August, monthly sales of the BMW X1 doubled year-on-year; BMW X3 sales increased 29.7% (12,663); BMW X4 deliveries rose 10.6% (4,118) and BMW X5 sales climbed 9.9% with a total of 12,321 delivered to customers. Sales of the BMW 7 Series in August more than tripled compared with the same month last year – over 5,000 of the all-new flagship vehicle were delivered to customers around the world in the month.

Sales of BMW’s electrified models remain strong, especially in Europe. Combined global sales of BMW i and BMW iPerformance vehicles are already higher than the 2015 total with 34,664 electrified vehicles delivered to customers so far this year. Of this, 17,809 were BMW iPerformance vehicles and 16,855 were BMW i vehicles. The BMW i3, which in July launched an additional model with significantly increased electric range, was delivered to 2,848 customers worldwide in August, an increase of 73.2% compared with the same month last year.

Sales of MINI brand vehicles increased by 10.3% in August with a total of 22,575 delivered to customers worldwide. In the first eight months of the year, sales rose by 5.7% (223,913). The premium brand’s biggest growth drivers are the MINI Clubman, with 36,687 sold worldwide so far this year, and the new MINI Convertible – which achieved sales growth of 148.0% in August (2,153).

Combined monthly sales of BMW and MINI in Europe totalled 62,653 in August, up 6.3% compared with the same month last year. Year-to-date sales in the region are up 10.1% with a total of 685,328 vehicles delivered. All markets in the region have contributed to this year’s strong growth with many achieving double-digit growth including Italy (51,444 / +16.7%), Spain (35,634 / +20.1%) and Scandinavia (34,370 / +15.5%).

Sales of BMW and MINI vehicles in Asia also saw strong growth last month with a total of 59,047 vehicles delivered to customers in August (+13.8%). In the first eight months of the year, a total of 476,777 BMW and MINI vehicles were sold in Asia, an increase of 8.1% compared with the same period last year. The region’s biggest market, Mainland China, achieved a 9.4% increase compared with the first eight months of last year, with a total of 329,972 vehicles sold so far this year. Year-to-date sales in many other markets in the region also show strong growth – Japan (46,713 / +8.8%) and South Korea (39,392 / +10.4%) are just two examples.

Sales of BMW and MINI in the Americas decreased 4.4% in August compared with the same month last year, with a total of 38,200 vehicles delivered to customers in the region. Year-to-date sales of BMW and MINI vehicles in the region total 298,821, which is down 7.0% compared with the same period last year. While August sales are up in Canada (3,575 / +8.0%) and Mexico (2,976 / +25.5%), the increasingly competitive market in the USA has seen deliveries for the month decrease by 7.2% (30,500).

This year continues to be the best ever for BMW Motorrad, with August sales up 5.7% compared with the same month last year (9,238) and year-to-date sales rising by 2.5% with a total of 103,829 motorcycles and maxi-scooters were delivered to customers in the first eight months of the year.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – September 1, 2016… Sales of BMW brand vehicles decreased 8.0 percent in August for a total of 25,531 compared to 27,755 vehicles sold in August, 2015. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is down 8.3 percent in the U.S. on sales of 204,744 vehicles compared to 223,348 sold in the first eight months of 2015.

Notable vehicle sales in August include the BMW 7 Series which increased to 1,230 cars, the BMW X3 which increased to 4,668 vehicles, and the BMW X5 which increased to 4,121 vehicles.

“The clear trend toward Sports Activity Vehicles took a good-sized leap forward in August, as our U.S. plant again increased production and availability of the always popular BMW X3 and X5 pushing total X model sales to 44% of BMW retail in the U.S. in August,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “With the production increase, I fully expect the key SAV numbers to remain strong in the U.S. through the end of the year.”

In total, the BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported August sales of 30,500 vehicles, a decrease of 7.2 percent from the 32,864 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, BMW Group sales are down 9.2 percent on sales of 239,631 vehicles in the first eight months of 2016 compared to 263,908 in the same period in 2015.

MINI Brand Sales

For August, MINI USA reported 4,969 automobiles sold, a decrease of 2.7 percent from the 5,109 sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI USA reported a total of 34,887 automobiles sold, a decrease of 14.0 percent from 40,560 automobiles sold in the first eight months of 2015.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – August 2, 2016… Sales of BMW brand vehicles decreased 4.4 percent in July for a total of 25,777 compared to 26,970 vehicles sold in July, 2015. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is down 8.4 percent in the U.S. on sales of 179,213 compared to 195,593 sold in the first seven months of 2015.

Notable vehicle sales include the BMW 7 Series which increased 31.3 percent, the BMW 2 Series which increased 66.1 percent, and the BMW X1 which increased 79.1 percent.

“The volatility that has characterized the 2016 sales year was clearly evident in the beginning of the third quarter,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “As we have seen through the early months of the year, the 2 Series and X1 have acquired a strong following and the 7 Series continues gaining ground.  At the same time, the global popularity of our X models continues to constrain our sales here in the U.S.”

In total, the BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported July sales of 30,551 vehicles, a decrease of 5.0 percent from the 32,161 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, BMW Group sales are down 9.5 percent on sales of 209,131 in the first seven months of 2016 compared to 231,044 in the same period in 2015.

MINI Brand Sales

For July, MINI USA reported 4,774 automobiles sold, a decrease of 8.0 percent from the 5,191 sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI USA reported a total of 29,918 automobiles sold, a decrease of 15.6 percent from 35,451 automobiles sold in the first seven months of 2015.
