Mecum Auction to Feature 700 American Muscle Cars, Classics, Hot Rods and More

Walworth, Wis. – June 30, 2016 – Following the inaugural auction that featured standing-room-only crowds and more than $12 million in sales, Mecum Auctions, the world’s largest collector car auction company, will return to Denver July 8-9 at the Colorado Convention Center. An estimated 700 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, Hot Rods, Resto Mods and more are expected to cross the auction block from approximately 15 surrounding states.

Leading the main attraction cars consigned for Mecum Denver 2016 is a 1970 Buick GSX Stage 1 (Lot S36) finished in Saturn Yellow paint that holds the distinction of being a two-time GS Club of America Nationals winner. This striking muscle car includes the rare dealer-installed Stage II package and is motivated by a matching-numbers 455/360-horsepower V8 engine. Another rare car that is available for bid is a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette convertible (Lot S110) that is one of only 267 equipped with J56 power brakes. Powered by a big-block 427/390-horsepower V8 engine, the Sunfire Yellow Corvette convertible features a host of options, including factory air conditioning. Completing the triumvirate of headliners is a 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition (Lot S130) finished in blue-and-orange Gulf Oil livery and powered by a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine producing 550 horsepower. The GT Heritage Edition is a factory Ford tribute to John Wyer Racing, the team that captured the 24 Hours of Le Mans in in both 1968 and 1969 in the legendary Gulf-liveried GT40 #1075.
