For the first time, the Flying Spur can now be specified with a refrigerated bottle cooler between the rear seats, painted veneers, Mulliner quilted leather, sterling silver atomisers and hide-trimmed stowage boxes. This new range of personalisation options are but a few of the limitless possibilities a customer can find with Mulliner, and further enhance the Flying Spur’s reputation for unparalleled luxury and refinement for both work and relaxation.

Mulliner Refrigerated Bottle Cooler

A luxuriously appointed refrigerated bottle cooler is now available in the Flying Spur for the first time. Rear-seat passengers will find storage for a champagne bottle in a canted position, a bottle stopper and two bespoke champagne flutes, all secreted behind frosted glass with bright chrome detailing.

The flutes – designed so that the base of the glasses mirror the design of Bentley wheels – can also be placed in specially designed flute holders in the centre console armrest, for secure storage between sips. When not in use, the bottle cooler and glasses can be stowed and concealed, with the fifth seating position reinstated.

Each refrigerated bottle cooler is made to order, hand built and trimmed in the Mulliner workshop in a process that takes highly skilled artisans 15 hours.

Painted Veneers

Bentley is bringing colour from its extended exterior paint range into the cabin, with a painted veneer finish unveiled for the first time on the Flying Spur.

The striking painted veneers offer an ultra-modern look that perfectly complements the wide range of interior hide options available.

Each veneer is carefully selected by Bentley’s master craftspeople, before being mirror matched and applied to the substrate. The veneer is then hand sanded before it is lacquered, then paint is carefully applied to ensure a flawless finish. After painting, the veneer receives a final polish with lamb’s wool to achieve a mirror like finish.

Atomisers

Sterling Silver Atomisers

Elegant and convenient, Mulliner has redesigned the doors of the Flying Spur to accommodate hallmarked silver atomisers. These sterling silver items can be used to spray a fine mist of water or perfume, delivering fragrance or refreshment for rear seat occupants.

Each atomiser is highly polished and housed in a dedicated compartment within the interior trim of the rear door, for discreet and secure storage when not in use.

Hide Trimmed Stowage Boxes

The centre console in the Flying Spur can now be specified with a hand-crafted rear stowage compartment. This luxurious yet convenient feature includes a watch holder and an area for the secure stowage of cufflinks, coins and the like.

Inside, Mulliner suggests the compartment is trimmed with an unexpected burst of colour – for example, Mandarin ‘Hidden Delights’ hide. Inspired by the tradition of Saville Row tailoring, this contrast colour showcases the extent of customer personalisation offered by Mulliner.

Mulliner Signature Quilting

Mulliner’s Signature Quilt Pattern can also now be applied to the Flying Spur’s centre console, creating a subtle yet eye-catching visual enhancement. The technically complex pattern can also be specified for the seat bolsters and door panels, for a luxurious and cosseting effect.

Mulliner – Rare by Design

Mulliner exists to respond to the requirements of Bentley’s most discerning customers. The specialist division’s Limited Editions reflect carefully chosen and inspirational themes. Individually these might have special significance for customers in specific markets, but what they all share is the highest standards of Mulliner craftsmanship – taking the concept of Bentley luxury and pushing it even further.

Mulliner Limited Editions are rare by design and, as a result, they all have the potential to become instant classics, desired by many but driven only by a fortunate few.

BENTLEY OFFERS STONE VENEERS BY MULLINER

  • Bentley pushes boundaries of cabin luxury with new and rare materials
  • Lightweight and contemporary feature developed by Mulliner
  • Four exclusive colours: Galaxy, Autumn White, Terra Red and Copper

(Crewe, 04 January, 2016)

This innovative interior finish utilises state-of-the-art stone veneer technology to make a luxurious, contemporary feature of a natural product formed over 200 million years.

The slate and quartzite stone is sustainably sourced from hand-selected quarries in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, India – a nation with an ancient and rich culture of stone masonry. The sections of stone are split from larger pieces and cured using glass fibre and a bespoke resin. Finally, they are shaped and hand finished by Bentley’s world-renowned Mulliner coachbuilding team at the company’s headquarters in Crewe, England.

The stone surfaces of the veneers are just 0.1 mm thick, meaning that they are both extremely light and translucent, allowing the elegant grain and pattern in the stone to be visible to the interior occupants.

Geoff Dowding, Director of Mulliner Operations, comments: “Bentley is the established expert in the handcrafting of wood and leather, and now we are exploring new, fine and rare materials to offer even more bespoke tailoring and choice to our customers. Stone veneers are another first for Bentley – but only the beginning of what we plan to do with this luxurious and unique material.”

Mulliner is now offering Stone Veneers in a natural finish, in four different colours on Continental and Flying Spur: Galaxy, Autumn White, Terra Red and Copper. As with any bespoke feature, customers that are interested in Stone Veneers can get in touch with Mulliner’s bespoke team who will work with each individual to discuss their unique requirements.
