International auctioneers Coys are holding two major simultaneous auctions at the Autosport show in the UK and Interclassics in the Netherlands on Saturday 16th January.
Chris Routledge, Managing Partner and auctioneer at Coys, said: “We have lined up a selection of some of the most desirable cars available on the market for what will be an exciting day for Coys, with two auctions being held simultaneously in different countries. This shows the international reach of the company and we hope to achieve outstanding sales at both events.”
The auction at the Autosport racing car show in Birmingham, UK, features a selection of grand prix, competition, touring and rally cars. The line up of cars for sale include a 1993 Ex Works Ford Escort Cosworth (estimated at £45,000 to £55,000), a 1982 Ex Works Vauxhall Chevette HSR DTV driven by Russell Brookes (£70,000 to £85,000), a 1959 Elva MK III Sports Racer 1500cc Climax (£110,000 to £130,000) and a 1980 Ford GT40 L One-Off Continuation Car (£45,000 to £60,000).
The sale also offers the opportunity to invest in two mighty Mercedes-Benz historic touring cars that are synonymous with the fabled Goodwood Revival meeting, a 1964 Mercedes-Benz 300SE ‘FINTAIL’ with 17 consecutive race seasons in the same ownership (estimated at £35,000 to £45,000) and a 1958 Mercedes-Benz 220S ‘PONTON’, a star of the Revival meetings since 2008 (£35,000 to £45,000).
A1960 Lotus 18 Formula Junior estimated at £55,000 to £65,000 is going under the hammer. This car was purchased in September 1960 by Ken Tyrell and driven on its first outing by none other than world champion and racing legend John Surtees at the Oulton Park Gold Cup on September 24th that year. Henry Taylor then went on to win the British Empire Trophy in October driving this car.
Other important lots include a 1985 MG Metro 6R4, the original Rothmans team car (£85,000 to £95,000), a 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GT (£230,000 to £265,000) and a 1958 Aston DB2/4 Mark III, with only two owners in 29 years (£100,000 to £115,000).
The ‘Grandes Marques’ auction at the Interclassics show in Maastricht, the Netherlands, offers a unique range of continental, sports and touring cars. The cars featured include a 1936 BMW 328 Roadster (€290,000 to €330,000), a 1965 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Series 1 (€230,000 to €270,000), a 1973 Porsche 911 T Coupe ex-Magnus Walker (€95,000 to €120,000) and a 1964 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL (€50,000 to €65,000).
Other highlights include a 1927 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Pall Mall Tourer (€125,000 to €150,000), a 1988 Ferrari Testarossa (€110,000 to €130,000), a 1957 Lancia Aurelia B20 GT (€100,000 to €130,000) and a 1960 Porsche 356B 1600S Cabriolet (€120,000 to €150,000).
The sale also features a selection of vintage motorcycles, including a 1954 MV Augusta 175CSS Squalo (€15,000-€18,000), a 1956 Maserati 125 Turismo Lusso (€8,000 to €10,000), a 1956 Vespa VL3T Struzzo (€5,000 to €7,500), a 1959 Vespa GS 150 (€5,000 to €7,000) and a 1962 Ducati Diana 250 (7,000 to €9,000)
