CHATEAU IMPNEY HILL CLIMB CONCOURS – ENTER YOUR CLASSIC VEHICLE TO WIN A PLACE

A partner of the forthcoming Chateau Impney Hill Climb is encouraging classic enthusiasts to enter their cars into a special competition.

Footman James, one of the UK’s leading classic vehicle insurers, is urging classic owners to enter the competition to be in with a chance of being the chosen Footman James entry into the event’s Concours d’Elegance.

The overall winner at the event will be chosen by the public and – for the first time ever – via social media, bringing tradition and modern technology together.

The Hill Climb is due to take place on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July in the grounds of the French chateau-style building in Droitwich, Worcestershire.

The Concours d’Elegance is set to wow visitors with a spectacular display of vintage and classic cars.

Footman James is one of a number of partners to be invited to present a car at the invitation-only Concours.

Overlooking the Hill Climb course, the Concours d’Elegance is a celebration of motorsport heritage shared by the grass-roots club movement and Chateau Impney, and promises to be an unmissable display of beautiful, powerful automobiles.

The Concours d’Elegance tradition dates back to the 17th century, when French noblemen would parade their horse-drawn carriages through the grand parks of Paris on holidays.  When automobiles became more commonplace, the focus moved to cars, and owners of the most prestigious and elegant vehicles gathered to display their cars for all to see.

Today, the Concours d’Elegance is an exciting competition, showcasing rare and incredible automobiles.  From vintage and classic cars to modern-day supercars, visitors will have the opportunity to view exceptional vehicles from around the world and find out more about their extraordinary journeys.

Almost fifty years ago, a sprint held in the grounds of Chateau Impney Hill Climb was one of the most well regarded events on the motor sports calendar; thousands of spectators used to pack into the grounds to watch the leading lights of hill climbing do battle in the 550 yard sprint.

Now, for the first time since 1967, historic motorsport action is returning to the picturesque venue, taken over by new owners in 2012, as it aims to once again establish a formidable reputation.

Around 200 competitors in 19 categories for pre-1967 cars are expected to take to the 1,000 yard course.

David Bond, Director at Footman James, said: “Our FJ entry does not have to be the most expensive or elegant of cars; what we are looking for is a car with an interesting story to tell.  In order to enter we are asking classic enthusiasts to email us at news.view@footmanjames.co.uk, tweet their entry  at @Footman_James or post on the FJ Facebook page with 100 words accompanying the photography.”

The deadline for entries into this Footman James competition is 31st May 2015.

Organisers are hoping to attract up to 10,000 fans over the weekend, which will also feature a trade fair and classic car auction.

Tickets for the weekend are on sale now, with a 10 per cent discount for buying before 30 June.
