Infiniti M Earns “Top Safety Pick” Ranking from IIHS

– Flagship Infiniti Sedan Selected by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety as One of its Top Safety Picks for 2013 –

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Infiniti announced that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has selected the Infiniti M luxury sedan for its “Top Safety Pick” designation, which recognizes passenger vehicles for excellent performance in four passenger safety tests. The 2013 Infiniti M37 and M56 achieved the Institute’s highest rating of “Good” in front, side, rollover, and rear crash tests for the second year in a row. IIHS is a nationally recognized nonprofit research organization funded by auto insurers.

The 2013 Infiniti M is available with a number of innovative technologies, including Infiniti’s Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention systems, which use a small camera to detect lane markers and warn the driver of a potential unintended lane departure. Also offered are Blind Spot Warning and Blind Spot Intervention® systems – which are available as part of the Technology Package – as well as Intelligent Brake Assist with Forward Collision Warning.

The Infiniti M has also been awarded a 5-Star overall safety rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under the agency’s New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). The 5-Star Safety Ratings System is designed to provide consumers with information about the crash protection and rollover safety of new vehicles. Five stars is the highest possible rating. NHTSA is the only organization that rates rollover resistance.

“Since they were first introduced, the Infiniti M37 and M56 have been showcases for Infiniti’s advanced, user-focused technologies, including an array of safety features and systems,” said Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore. “The IIHS ‘Top Safety Pick’ designation is important validation of our efforts in providing a performance luxury experience crafted to a higher standard.”

The 2013 Infiniti M is offered in five inspired models: M37, M37 AWD, M56, M56 AWD and the Infiniti M Hybrid (designated M35h). As Infiniti’s first-ever hybrid, the 2013 Infiniti Hybrid delivers fuel efficiency of 27 mpg city, 32 mpg highway and 29 mpg combined.
