A 1932 Austin 16/6 Harrow two-seater tourer is just one of the motoring rarities going under the hammer at Anglia Car Auctions’ next sale, held at it’s King’s Lynn head office on Saturday 22nd June.
Towering above its Seven siblings, the big six-cylinder Austin was a move into the more upmarket sector but few were made and very few survive today. Last on the road in 1970, it was found in a barn more than 25 years ago and subsequently restored over a five-year period. Currently undergoing some mechanical re-commissioning but otherwise ready to use, it’s estimated at £8000-12,000.
Bringing a touch of old-school off-roading to the sale is a 1952 Land Rover 80” that has been owned by the vendor for 32 years. Purchased by the current owner, a former headmaster at one of Norfolk’s oldest private schools, in 1981 as part of his own collection, it was lovingly restored over a long period of time.
Today early Land Rovers offer the ultimate in practical classic motoring, their reliability making plenty of friends around the world, while good spares support makes them easy to run on a day-to-day basis. The ACA model has been properly looked after and is instantly usable, with an estimated selling price of between £12,000-15,000.
And for a retro-classic rarity the 1992 Peugeot 205GTI automatic is something very special. Never offered in the UK because the automatic transmission might compromise the sporting Pug’s image, ACA’s car was one of a limited number built exclusively for Japan but returned because it didn’t meet emissions rules.
Since returning to the UK, this stunning hot hatchback, with 93,000 miles on the clock, has been brought to concours standard by its current owner and has a highly detailed service history. A bargain given its estimated selling price is between £3800-5500.
