A collection of stunning Ferraris helped Silverstone Auctions achieve a 63% sales rate and a total sales value of over £1million in its Autumn Sale at The Wing on Saturday 20th September.

No less than six of Maranello’s finest were on offer at Silverstone Circuit where a beautiful and low mileage 1985 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalve topped the bill selling for a premium inclusive £88,550.

Buyers from all over the world fought hard to secure some wonderful examples of the increasingly popular Ferrari 308. A 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS sold for a premium inclusive £52,900, more than £12,000 over its lower estimate, while a highly original dry-sump 1978 Ferrari 308 GTB sold for £58,075, more than £13,000 over its lower estimate. The elegant and understated 1988 Ferrari 412 GT sold for a premium inclusive £ 21,562.

The sale got off to great start with a concours condition 1951 GMC Pick-Up selling for a premium inclusive £22,080, more than £9,000 over its lower estimate. Barn find Aston Martins proved in demand as ever with a 1978 V8 Series III selling for £ 22,425 and a 1970 DBS selling for £ 33,350.

Speaking after the sale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, Nick Whale, said: “Some great results have been achieved here at our final sale of the year at The Wing. As always we brought together a fantastic range of cars and hope our vendors are as happy with the results as we are. ”

Having spent 15 years in storage and in need of restoration, the very first production spec Lynx Eventer, one of just 67 produced, caught the eye of bidders selling for a premium inclusive £28,750. A rare and highly sought after 1989 BM3 E30 M3 Johnny Cecotto hit top estimate selling for £40,250.

Nick added: “We now look forward to our final sale of the year at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor at the NEC, Birmingham. Some great cars have already been entered into the two day sale on the 15th and 16th of November and so I would encourage potential vendors to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

RARE AND UNIQUE CLASSICS ON OFFER AT SILVERSTONE SALE

Over 60 classic cars and three historic motorcycles will be offered in Silverstone Auctions’ Autumn Sale at Silverstone race circuit this Saturday. The sale, taking place on September 20th, features a fantastic array of exotic and unique classic cars.

Topping the bill is a stunning, low mileage 1985 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalve, estimated at between £80,000 and £90,000. The highly collectible car has covered just over 10,000 miles from new and is in superb condition.

Other Italian cars include a 2011 Fiat 500 Stirling Moss 722 Tribute, estimated at between £9,000 and £12,000. The car is totally unique having been created by a friend of the legendary racing driver who has signed the dash and headrests, and sports his famous 722 number on the doors, bonnet and boot lid.

One of only two RHD models believed to be left in existence, a 1960 Steyr Puch 500 is estimated at between £15,000 and £18,000. After years in storage this wonderful little car has been brought back to the road, with fresh interior trim, new tyres and very few other minor mechanical touches and is now offered for auction.

Speaking prior to the sale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, Nick Whale, said: “Our final sale at The Wing this year is set to be a great one. The very first production spec Lynx Eventer V12 HE will also be going under the hammer, estimated at between £25,000 and £30,000, as well as a rare and highly sought after 1989 BMW E30 M3 Johnny Cecotto, estimated at between £35,000 and £40,000.

As well as classic cars and motorcycles a selection of automobilia will be offered including and a collection of luxury lifestyle items including watches and leather goods.

The auction house is also now inviting quality consignments into its final sale of the NEC Classic Motor Show on the 15th and 16th of November.
