SWIFT 4x4

  • Available with 1.2-litre petrol engine and five doors in either SZ3 or SZ4 grades
  • Fully automatic and permanent 4WD system
  • Just 65kg heavier than an equivalent 2WD model
  • CO2 emissions of 126g/km

Suzuki has a strong global heritage for its 4WD models and now, following sales success in Japan as well as several European Countries including Germany and Switzerland, Suzuki is launching the 4x4 Swift in the UK and it goes on sale this month.

Swift 4x4 will be available as a five door 1.2 petrol model with manual transmission and equipped as either an SZ3 or SZ4 grade.

Apart from 4x4 badging and a slightly increased body ride height of 25mm the SZ3 grade appears identical to an equivalent SZ3 five door. The SZ4 model has a more rugged appearance and offers extra protection over rough ground by adding front and rear skid plates, black wheel arch extensions and black side skirts.

This new model has a proven and simple fully automatic and permanent 4-wheel drive system which transfers additional torque to the rear wheels when required via a viscous coupling, further enhancing the already highly acclaimed cornering ability of the Swift.

It is also an ideal choice for customers living in rural areas needing additional mobility or for crossing slippery surfaces during winter without owning a larger and more conventional SUV sized vehicle.

Thanks to the use of small and lightweight components Swift 4x4 is just 65kg heavier than an equivalent 2WD petrol model and emissions are only 10g/km higher at 126g/km.

Included in Suzuki's recently extended VAT free offers, the 4WD Swift is priced at £11,516 for SZ3 and £13,116 for the higher specified SZ4 model which now includes power folding door mirrors with integral indicators and Daylight Running Lamps as standard equipment.

SWIFT SPORT SZ-R

Hot on the heels of the Swift SZ-L Special Edition, Suzuki GB PLC is pleased to announce the introduction of the Swift Sport SZ-R – strictly limited to just 100 cars.

SZ-R is aimed at buyers who want to own a Swift Sport with a very distinctive look, but still want the sporty, fun-to-drive experience of the standard Swift Sport.

The SZ-R possesses all the performance attributes of standard Swift Sport; 0-62mph in 8.7 seconds, top speed of 121 mph and a 136HP VVT engine which provides 44.1mpg combined.

Each SZ-R is finished in Cosmic Black with contrasting Ablaze Red roof, rear spoiler and door mirrors plus SZ-R side badging. Inside, each of the 100 cars has uniquely numbered door sill guards, red accented gear shift knob and red trimmed carpet mats.

Swift Sport offers a high level of equipment as standard including seven airbags, auto air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity and USB port, rear privacy glass and 17-inch wheels. HID Projector headlamps for low and high beam are also fitted as standard. This safety feature is often listed as a cost option by its direct competitors as well as on much more expensive cars.

Swift Sport SZ-R is available from Friday, 1st March and priced at £14,249 – just £500 more than a standard Swift Sport.

SUZUKI SWIFT SZ-L

  • Special Edition SZ-L model based on mid-grade SZ3.
  • Priced at £10,599 for the three door model and £11,016 for five door model.

Following its debut at Autosport International earlier this month, the Special Edition Swift SZ-L will go on sale on the 1st February.

The SZ-L is based on the 1.2-litre SZ3, but with additional equipment and features designed to enhance the sporty and fun to drive character of Swift.

All Swift SZ3 models already come well equipped with seven airbags, ESP, air conditioning, USB port and Bluetooth as standard. Outside, the SZ-L adds a rear upper spoiler, rear privacy glass, unique 16-inch alloy wheels and free metallic paint in a choice of four colours. Moving inside, red accent stitching is added to the steering wheel and gearshift surround as seen on Swift Sport, as well as cruise control.

Crucially, the Swift SZ-L offers value for money in terms of running costs and purchase price; the 1.2-litre Dual VVT 94PS engine is one of the most powerful in its class, but offers low emissions of just 116g/km CO2 costing £30 in annual VED after the first year and returns a frugal 56.5mpg on the combined cycle.

Insurance should prove to be affordable too; SZ-L is in a low insurance group making it the ideal purchase for younger Swift fans who want to own a more striking, design-led car at a price that isn't going to break the bank.

Swift SZ-L is available on the recently extended VAT free promotion until the 31st March at £10,599 for three door models and £11,016 for five door models. Additionally, Suzuki Financial Services has included it in its popular PCP Driveplan campaign. The SZ-L requires a deposit of just £749 followed by 47 monthly payments of £179 and an optional final balloon payment to keep the car.

All Suzuki models are covered by a three-year/60,000-mile new vehicle warranty, one year AA Suzuki Assistance, providing 24-hour UK and European roadside assistance, recovery and associated services; and by a 12-year perforation warranty.
On the road prices include VAT, delivery to dealer, number plates and First Registration Fee.

SWIFT SPORT

Suzuki is pleased to announce that the Swift Sport has been awarded a 'Best Buy' accolade at the prestigious What Car? Magazine awards for the second year in a row. The performance flagship of the Swift model range was comprehensively judged by the editorial team against some very strong competition and the final vote resulted in it again receiving the 'Best Buy Hot hatch for less than £15,000'.

In fact the Swift Sport is a lot less than £15,000 as it is available for £13,749 in a choice of five standard metallic paint finishes and with a very high standard equipment specification including seven airbags, auto air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity and USB port, rear privacy glass and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Chas Hallett, What Car? Editor in chief comments: "The Suzuki Swift Sport is proof that you don't need a lot of money to have an awful lot of fun. It scores well on insurance costs and real world fuel economy – but it will also put a huge grin on your face."

The Swift Sport's 1.6-litre engine has an impressive maximum output of 136PS at 7,000rpm and is achieved through optimisation of the intake VVT (Variable Valve Timing) and increased valve lift.

The engine's high output is combined with excellent fuel economy of 44.1mpg on the EC Combined Cycle; CO2 emissions are 147g/km and a bespoke exhaust system yields a sporty note. The Sport is fitted with a six speed manual transmission as standard.

HID Projector headlamps for low and high beam are also fitted as standard. This safety feature is often listed as a cost option by its direct competitors as well as on much more expensive cars.

The Sport has already proved to be very popular with customers, achieving well over 100 per cent of target in 2012. To help widen the market as well as assist younger buyers aspiring to own one, Suzuki has now included it in its latest PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) offers with a special low deposit of just £1,409 required followed by 42 monthly payments of £239 and an optional final payment of £4,698.

OVER ALL

Suzuki GB PLC is pleased to announce its presence at this year's Autosport International show at the NEC in Birmingham. Suzuki will be exhibiting several examples of its very popular Swift model including an early opportunity to view two Special Edition models due for introduction in the UK in the near future; these will be badged SZ-L for the 1.2-litre model and SZ-R for the 1.6-litre Sport. From the two wheel side of the company, the latest version of the GSX-R600 will also be on display equipped with advanced technology derived from MotoGP.

The Swift is the model with which Suzuki launched its world strategy and is produced at seven plants around the world and sold in more than 100 countries and territories. Its dynamic performance and sporty styling have helped take it to sales of two million units faster than any other model in the company's history. With the Swift, driving a compact car does not mean settling for less.

Also at the show will be the highly acclaimed Swift Sport model which is the performance flagship of the range. In development Suzuki pursued even higher levels of chassis performance, achieving an exceptional balance of controllability and stability.

Greater toe and camber rigidity for the torsion beam, greater lateral rigidity in the torsion-beam bushings and larger rear wheel bearings enhance stability at the rear under hard cornering. Increased spring rates for the front and rear springs and the addition of rebound springs in the front suspension struts significantly contribute to stability by providing greater roll stiffness. These modifications result in handling that has evolved even further from that of the previous Swift Sport, a car well known by Motorsport fans and endorsed by many Rally and RallyCross drivers both in the UK and further afield.

The Swift Sport's M16A engine offers more power combined with lower emissions. Thanks to the addition of a variable intake system, optimisation of the intake VVT (Variable Valve Timing) and increased valve lift, maximum output is an impressive 136PS at 7,000rpm.

The engine's high output is combined with excellent fuel economy of 44.1mpg on the EC Combined Cycle; CO2 emissions are 147g/km and a bespoke exhaust system yields a sportier note. The Sport is fitted with a six speed manual transmission as standard.

Swift Sport is available for £13,749 including metallic paint and to help widen the market as well as assist younger buyers aspiring to own one, Suzuki has now included it in its latest PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) offers with a special low deposit of just £1,409 required followed by 42 monthly payments of £239 and an optional final payment of £4,698.

The GSX-R600 was voted Best Sports Bike in the under 600cc category by MCN in 2011 and 2012. It has a power output of 124hp at 13,500rpm from its 4 cylinder fuel injected engine. A key point about the performance of GSX is that it weighs just 187kg including a full tank of fuel which translates to over 660hp per ton. GSX is equipped with Brembo Monoblock Radial Mount Brake Callipers, race proven slipper clutch and six speed close ratio gearbox.
