(MAHWAH, N.J.) – June 30, 2015 -Following the reintroduction of the Discovery nameplate in 2015, Land Rover continues its momentum in 2016 with the introduction of new powertrains, upgraded infotainment and connectivity systems and enhanced driver assistance features across its range of vehicles.

A new 3.0L turbocharged V6 diesel engine is introduced for the first time in the North American market – making its debut on 2016 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. The Td6 engine produces 254hp and 440 lb-ft of low end torque maintaining the 7,716lb towing capacity of these vehicles and delivering 0-60mph1 acceleration times comparable to the higher horsepower V6 gasoline models. Providing exceptional levels of efficiency and refinement, the Td6 engine, when equipped on the 2016 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, delivers an estimated 22 mpg city, 28 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined6, representing a 32 percent improvement over the gasoline powertrain.

Adding elevated luxury, design sophistication and performance to the Range Rover line-up, the SVAutobiography is also new for 2016. Replacing Autobiography Black at the top of the Range Rover line-up, the SVAutobiography is available with a powerful 550hp supercharged V8 engine and features unique interior and exterior design enhancements. Exclusively crafted by the Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team, the SVAutobiography is the most luxurious and powerful production Range Rover in the model’s 45-year history.

The recipient of more than 165 international awards, the Range Rover Evoque receives a mid-cycle refresh for 2016. Exterior enhancements include full-LED headlamps and tail lamps with a new signature design, new front bumper, two new grille designs, new optional paint colors and a new tailgate spoiler. On the inside, the instrument cluster receives an update, new seat designs and color palettes become available and ambient lighting is improved. 2016 Range Rover Evoque models also receive new trim level designations, SE, SE Premium, HSE and HSE Dynamic, bringing the model into alignment with the rest of the Range Rover family of products.

The full 2016 Land Rover line-up will also come standard with InControl Remote & Protect™ and Land Rover InControl® Apps™2. Available driver assistance features include Hands-Free Gesture Tailgate, Automatic Access Height, Lane Keeping Aid, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Driver Condition Monitoring, Heads-Up Display and Surround Camera3.

Introduced for the 2015 model year, the Discovery Sport features a bold and progressive design, which defines the new Discovery family of vehicles. Offering seven-passenger seating in an optional “5+2” configuration, the 2016 Discovery Sport brings added versatility to the compact premium SUV market.

Delivering a refined combination of performance, efficiency and capability, the 2016 Discovery Sport features a 2.0L turbocharged engine producing 240hp and 251 lb-ft of torque, which routes power to standard all-wheel drive through a nine-speed automatic transmission.

For 2016, the Discovery Sport receives several telematic enhancements. Land Rover InControl Remote™ & InControl Protect™ is standard on all Discovery Sport derivatives. In addition to allowing owners to check vehicle status, InControl Remote now allows owners to lock and unlock the doors, start the engine and activate the climate control remotely using a smartphone.

Garnering international acclaim for its capability and versatility, the Land Rover LR4 enters the 2016 model year with continued on-road refinement and off-road leadership.

The LR4 is available with a 340hp 3.0L supercharged V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, with seating available for up to seven adult passengers. Maintaining its on-road comfort and off-road heritage, the LR4 uses an integrated body-on-frame construction, featuring a steel unibody mounted on a rigid boxed full frame. Four-wheel independent, height adjustable air suspension and the renowned Terrain Response® system3 are standard. A single-speed transfer case 4WD system is standard on the LR4, however customers can choose an optional Heavy Duty Package which includes a two-speed transfer case with an active locking rear differential and a full size spare tire.

For 2016, Land Rover has strengthened the positioning of the Range Rover Evoque, reinforcing its status in the market as a leader in design. Trim level naming has been updated, bringing the Range Rover Evoque into alignment with the rest of the Range Rover family. Evoque five-door models will now be available as SE, SE Premium, HSE and HSE Dynamic derivatives. Evoque Coupe will only be available in two derivatives – SE Premium and HSE Dynamic.

The entire model range also receives a selection of carefully chosen revisions, including exterior updates to the front bumper and hood vents, two new grille designs, redesigned adaptive full-LED headlamps and tail lamps, a new tailgate spoiler and two new exterior paint options.

Inside, changes include new seats and door casings, a new infotainment system accessed via an eight-inch touchscreen and the introduction of new interior finishes – such as Lunar Ice and Vintage Tan – and materials that complement the vehicle’s bold architectural form.

Emphasizing a dedication to improved connectivity and capability, the 2016 Range Rover Sport line-up includes new powertrain options, as well as enhanced connected-car features over the previous model year.

New for 2016, Range Rover Sport V6 models are offered with the option of either a gasoline or diesel powertrain. Delivering effortless performance, the new 3.0L Td6 turbocharged V6 diesel engine produces 254hp and a low-end torque output of 440 lb-ft. The 3.0L supercharged V6 gasoline engine continues through 2016, offering a powerful 340hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Preliminary fuel economy figures for the Range Rover Sport Td6 are estimated at 22 mpg city, 28 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined6, a 32 percent improvement over the gasoline powertrain.

InControl Remote & Protect™ infotainment features also become standard, enabling owners to interact with their vehicle using a smartphone and placing roadside assistance and emergency services a finger away.

A number of new driver assistance features will also become available, including a rear tailgate camera washer, Hands-Free Gesture Tailgate and All-Terrain Progress Control3.

Underlining its status as the ultimate luxury SUV, the Range Rover receives a comprehensive suite of revisions for 2016. Key updates include a more powerful V6 engine, the addition of a new turbo-diesel powertrain and all-new driver assistance features.

New for 2016, the Range Rover HSE receives an enhanced V6 gasoline engine tuned to produce 380hp (a 40hp increase over previous models). Both SE and HSE models will now be available with an efficient diesel powertrain option for the first time in North America. Producing 254hp and 440 lb-ft of low-end torque, the Td6 engine provides excellent performance, reduced fuel costs and an exceptional cruising range of up to 658 miles on the highway. Towing capability remains unchanged at 7,716lbs (3500kg).

Available driver assistance features have been expanded to include All-Terrain Progress Control, a new Surround Camera System3, a standard rear-camera wash system, standard Hands-Free Gesture tailgate and standard Automatic Access Height.

InControl Remote & Protect™ infotainment features also become standard, enabling owners to interact with their vehicle using a smartphone and placing roadside assistance and emergency services a finger away.
