Dunlop expands winter line-up equipped with Noise Shield technology for a comfortable winter performance drive

Dunlop Noise Shield technology now available in five new sizes in Dunlop’s winter tire line-up

Brussels, August 2017 – Dunlop introduces its new winter tire line-up with Noise Shield technology. The technology reduces noise levels inside the vehicle by up to 50% on all types of road surfaces, whilst leaving all other driving performance factors such as mileage, fuel consumption and speed intact.[1]

Noise in a car’s interior is caused by a variety of elements such as wind, driving speed, road conditions, the engine and structure of the car, and the tires. The latter creating noise because of tire air cavity resonance, produced by air vibration inside the tire being transmitted to the vehicle’s structure.

Dunlop’s Noise Shield technology works directly to reduce the air cavity resonance by up to 4dB. Thanks to an advanced foam layer inside the tire, the technology effectively dampens the tire air cavity resonance sound peak by up to 11dB. Delivering an interior noise reduction of up to 4dB, making the vehicle cabin up to 50% less noisy across a broad range of vehicle speeds.[1]

‘We are proud to expand our Dunlop Noise Shield technology range with five new sizes, allowing the driver to enjoy the drive, even during challenging winter conditions’, says Martijn de Jonge, Brand Director Consumer PBU EMEA.

Next to the 22 existing sizes equipped with Noise Shield, Dunlop now has five more Winter Sport 5 sizes with its noise-reducing technology:
