“Last spring, our most exclusive and fastest road-going GT-R ever, the 2017 NISMO, made its global debut at the famed Nürburgring race course, where the Nissan GT-R’s potent performance was honed, tuned and developed,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. “Now, as it readies to hit the streets of North America, it’s fitting that it does so among a gathering of the Nissan and Datsun heritage cars that paved the way for this ultimate expression of Nissan innovation and performance.”

About the 2017 GT-R NISMO
The GT-R NISMO’s new dynamic styling is both attractive and functional. The new “V-motion” grille, one of Nissan’s latest design signatures, has been enlarged to provide better engine cooling and now features a matte chrome finish and an updated mesh pattern. A new hood, featuring pronounced character lines flowing flawlessly from the grille, has been reinforced to enhance stability during high speed driving.

Unique NISMO body features include carbon fiber front and rear bumpers, black outside mirrors with red stripe and carbon fiber side sills and emblem treatment. The GT-R NISMO’s handmade dry carbon rear spoiler features a special coating that allows carbon fiber “weave” to be felt by the touch. The lightweight dry carbon fiber material is also incredibly strong4.

The new GT-R NISMO also benefits from the 2017 GT-R Premium’s refreshed interior, whose cabin possesses a more upscale feel than ever before. The redesigned dashboard and steering wheel are covered with high-quality Alcantara® suede. NISMO racers influenced the design of the dark gray with red stripe steering wheel, with three spokes, red center mark and red stitching to give a strong combination of grip, feedback and comfort.

The center stack layout has been improved and simplified, with the number of integrated navigation and audio controls reduced from 27 switches in the previous model to only 11 in the 2017 version.

In addition, an enlarged 8-inch touch-panel monitor featuring large icons on the display screen make it simple to use, while a new Display Command control on the carbon fiber center console allows easy operation without having to touch the monitor. Unique to GT-R NISMO are the leather-appointed Recaro® seats with red synthetic suede inserts.

The 2017 GT-R NISMO’s 600-horsepower VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 is rated at 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque3 – representing increases of 35 horsepower and 14 lb-ft of torque versus 2017 GT-R Premium models. The engine’s high-flow, high-capacity turbochargers are similar to those used for GT3 racing and offer improved breathing. Optimized individual ignition timing control for each cylinder and upgraded fuel pump (versus standard models) help improve combustion. A special lightweight Titanium exhaust system is also standard.

The VR38DETT V6 is backed by an advanced paddle-shifted sequential 6-speed dual clutch transmission, which can be driver selected to shift at race car-like speeds.

The 4-wheel independent suspension receives unique NISMO tuning, with reduced weight and additional roll stiffness. Additional adhesive bonding (in addition to spot welding) helps increase body shell rigidity.

NISSAN REVEALS UK FULL SPECS AND PRICING FOR NEW GT-R TRACK EDITION

  • New Nissan GT-R Track Edition offers even greater performance for supercar enthusiasts
  • Engineering by NISMO, enhancements include bespoke Bilstein suspension and revised interior
  • Priced from £91,995, first customer cars will be delivered in early November

Another eagerly anticipated chapter in the Nissan GT-R success story has begun, with the arrival of the GT-R Track Edition.

As the name implies, it’s been specifically engineered for thrill-seeking track enthusiasts by the dedicated team at NISMO – Nissan’s motorsport division. Designed to deliver a higher level of performance than the standard GT-R, it is priced from £91,995.

The Nissan GT-R Track Edition sits above the Premium, Prestige and Black Edition in the model line-up, but below the flagship GT-R NISMO.

Performance modifications to further improve the dynamic experience include bespoke Bilstein Damptronic® suspension. A race-tuned set-up, this is designed to optimise straight-line and cornering stability. A new lightweight anti-roll bar has also been added to increase body stiffness and reduce weight.

NISMO Racing Black forged 20-inch aluminium wheels and tyres are part of the GT-R Track Edition package, in addition to a wider front bumper. However, the exact specification varies by market. For example, Track Edition cars in Germany come with carbon-backed Recaro seats as standard, with a carbon rear spoiler available as an option.

In the UK, the black and red Recaro seats from the GT-R Black Edition are fitted, while the carbon spoiler is standard. A boot lid made from carbon and the carbon-backed seats are optional extras.

What is included on every version is the finishing touch – a unique Track Edition badge made from carbon that’s attached to the dashboard. Customers will start to take to delivery of cars from early November.

The GT-R Track Edition is based on the MY17 GT-R, first unveiled at the New York Motor Show in April 2016. Building on the GT-R’s unrivalled supercar heritage, the four-wheel-drive super-coupé features a striking new aerodynamic exterior design.

That’s coupled with a sophisticated new premium interior for maximum driver comfort, and includes a new eight-inch NissanConnect touch-screen infotainment system and 11-speaker Bose® audio unit.

Power comes from a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 developing 570PS and 637Nm of torque. Each engine is hand-assembled from start to finish by a single, meticulously trained, technician called a Takumi – literally ‘master craftsman’ in Japanese.

Since its launch in 2007, the Nissan GT-R has been at the cutting edge of the premium sports car sector – an uncompromising performance four-seater for enthusiastic drivers, a car which completely embodies Nissan’s brand sign-off – Innovation that Excites.

NISSAN REVEALS EUROPEAN PRICES FOR GT-R NISMO

  • Range-topping super-coupé now available across European markets
  • On sale from 1 November, price is €184,950 in Germany and France / £149,995 in the UK
  • 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 delivers 600PS – 30PS more than any other current GT-R

The ultra-desirable flagship of the Nissan GT-R range – the exhilarating GT-R NISMO – will go on sale from 1 November, with prices now confirmed for the first time.

The GT-R NISMO is the pinnacle of the GT-R range, a high-performance race car for the road which takes the very best of the super-coupe’s legendary Japanese heritage, then enhances the iconic design and state-of-the-art technology even further.

Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 delivering 600PS – 30PS more than any other car in the range. The engine features a pair of high-flow, large diameter turbochargers used in GT3 competition, and power is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch paddleshift gearbox.

The GT-R NISMO costs €184,950 in Germany and France, and £149,995 in the UK – the model’s three key markets in Europe. Prices in other countries may vary slightly.

Like the standard car, the GT-R NISMO’s front end features a fresh face with a dramatic new bumper. However, on this model it’s made entirely from carbon fibre to reduce weight. To help cool the car’s high-output engine, the dark chrome V-motion grille has been enlarged to collect more air.

The redesign has been carefully shaped to improve airflow around the vehicle and generate a high level of downforce, while at the same time directing air around the wheels to improve the aerodynamics. The GT-R NISMO generates more downforce than any other Nissan production car to date, which results in exceptional high-speed stability.

The performance of the all-wheel-drive GT-R NISMO has also been upgraded, thanks in part to the standard model’s significantly reinforced body structure. This allowed the engineering team to further refine the GT-R NISMO’s shock absorbers, springs and stabilisers. When combined with the car’s increase in downforce, the result is the most dynamically capable GT-R NISMO ever.

This is evidenced by the car’s improved slalom times and superior cornering performance, both of which are nearly 2% better than the previous version. Despite its more potent nature, the new GT-R NISMO boasts better overall balance than before, evolving into a car that can be enjoyed on both winding roads and race circuits.

A more premium and sophisticated interior is one of the key enhancements to the new GT-R, and the NISMO version is no exception. The redesigned dashboard, steering wheel and centre armrest are covered with high-quality Alcantara® leather. Unique to this version are the leather-covered Recaro® carbon bucket seats with red Alcantara® inserts.
