Touring
BMW 518i touring
Following the successful introduction of the third BMW 5 Series (E34) in 1988, BMW launched a new aristocratic estate car with the 5 Series touring
at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1991. This car impressed with a harmonious and sporty design, high body stiffness and lots of smart solutions for
details. Like the saloon, the 4-cylinder model BMW 518i was initially reserved for export and it was not supplied to the German market until 1993. Only
2,577 vehicles had been produced for the German market by 1996 (plus 4,048 for export).

BMW 520i touring
The BMW 520I touring was the second most popular model after the 525tds with nearly 31,000 units. The M50 engine upgraded to 4-valve
technology since May 1990 generated 150 hp in the 520i and also provided adequate handling in the "estate car".

BMW 525i touring
The BMW 325i undoubtedly presented the best choice in the saloon and the touring models. The 2.5 litre 6-cylinder engine with 24 valves generated
a robust 192 hp, was fuel efficient, torquey and very smooth-running. There were good reasons why this model attracted almost as many customers as the 520i touring despite customers having to pay an additional DM 10,000.

BMW 525iX touring
BMW supplied the 525i X touring for friends of four-wheel drive technology. It combined characteristics compliant with family use and winter driving
conditions, and the 2.5 litre 6-cylinder engine generating 192 hp delivered sporty performance, even though the additional weight of nearly 100 kg was definitely tangible. Almost 5,000 customers opted for this version.

BMW 530i touring
From 1992, customers with very high aspirations were able to select the new V8 version, the BMW 530i touring. The 3 litre engine generating 218 hp
delivered driving performance similar to a sports car and accelerated the estate car weighing 1630 kg in the sprint to 100 km/h within just 8.1
seconds. The new model was identifiable by the wider kidney grille and this was also transferred to all other 5 Series touring models from 1994.

BMW 540i touring
Starting in 1993, BMW supplied a second V8 model with the 540i touring which left nothing to be desired when it came to equipment and driving
performance. A sprint to 100 km/h within 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h spoke for themselves, and these statistics were only slightly less
than for the M5 touring. The new model could be identified by the wider kidney grille, which was transferred to all other 5 Series touring models from 1994.

true sporting performance in the touring model with 143 hp generated from a displacement of 2.5 litres. 57 hp per litre of displacement - no other diesel manufactured in large-scale production had ever been as powerful as this.

BMW 518g touring
The BMW 518g touring presented together with the BMW 316g was a sensation in 1995. BMW launched with this car the first volume-produced
vehicles powered by natural gas on the market in Europe. The engines could either be powered by natural gas or petrol and when using natural gas
they achieved a reduction of 20% in CO2 emitted. By the year 2000, 842 units of both cars had rolled off the assembly line and nearly 300 of these were the BMW 518g touring.
